WHO rejects Israel’s claim that Hamas stole Gaza aid
Cindy McCain, Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP), dismissed allegations by Israel that Hamas is stealing humanitarian aid bound for Gaza. Her remarks came during an interview where the host questioned her about reports that at least 15 WFP trucks were looted en route to bakeries in southern gaza, with Israel consistently blaming Hamas for such incidents.
“Listen, these are desperate people,” McCain stated in response. “When they see a WFP truck coming in, they run toward it. This has nothing to do with Hamas or any other group.”
She emphasized: “this is happening simply because these people are starving to death.”
The WFP chief reaffirmed the agency’s commitment: “We will keep going—delivering food and essential supplies needed to support bakeries—and ensure we can continue this work. We hope to do even more.”
Though, McCain stressed the need for global action: “But again, we cannot do this unless the international community steps up pressure.” She warned against inaction: “We cannot stand back and watch these people starve without external diplomatic intervention to help us.”
