North Korea calls US missile defense plan a nuclear war scenario
North Korea’s Foreign Ministry condemned the US missile defense initiative dubbed “Golden Dome,” calling it an “extremely dangerous and threatening scheme,” according to a report by webangah News Agency.
On May 20, former US President Donald Trump announced his selection of the Golden Dome missile defense system and introduced the official overseeing the $175 billion project.
the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), citing Pyongyang’s Foreign Ministry-affiliated Institute for American Studies, stated: ”The Golden Dome plan is, in essence, a manifestation of ‘america First’—embodying extreme arrogance, hostility, despotism, arbitrary action, and a scenario for space-based nuclear war.”
The initiative aims to deploy hundreds of satellites in Earth’s orbit equipped with advanced sensors and interceptors to destroy missiles launched by countries such as China, Iran, North Korea, or Russia.
Last week, China expressed grave concerns over the plan and urged Washington to abandon it.
