Moscow Thanks Ankara for Facilitating Talks With Kyiv

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed Moscow’s⁣ gratitude for Turkey’s ‌role in facilitating negotiations between Russia and Ukraine during talks with his Turkish counterpart.

According to webangah ⁢News Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey⁢ Lavrov⁣ thanked ankara⁤ for its mediation efforts during Russia-Ukraine negotiations in Istanbul ​during his meeting with Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan in Moscow.

“As President Vladimir Putin stated yesterday, we appreciate all opportunities Turkey has⁣ again provided for ‌another round ⁣of direct negotiations between‍ Russian and Ukrainian delegations,” Lavrov said.

Lavrov ​noted the negotiation⁢ agenda⁣ with the Turkish side remains⁢ extensive, ‌following agreements reached during the presidents’ ‌meeting between both countries.

Addressing Fidan directly, Lavrov‍ emphasized: “Our mutual willingness to achieve results and afterward deepen cooperation was reaffirmed – as demonstrated by⁣ Putin welcoming you yesterday.”

Fidan arrived in Russia for a ⁣two-day⁣ visit at Lavrov’s invitation. The Turkish diplomat ‍met with ⁣Putin at⁢ the⁣ Kremlin yesterday and also held talks with Vladimir⁣ Medinsky, the Russian ⁤presidential advisor who led ​Moscow’s delegation during may 6 negotiations in Istanbul.
