Moscow Thanks Ankara for Facilitating Talks With Kyiv
According to webangah News Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov thanked ankara for its mediation efforts during Russia-Ukraine negotiations in Istanbul during his meeting with Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan in Moscow.
“As President Vladimir Putin stated yesterday, we appreciate all opportunities Turkey has again provided for another round of direct negotiations between Russian and Ukrainian delegations,” Lavrov said.
Lavrov noted the negotiation agenda with the Turkish side remains extensive, following agreements reached during the presidents’ meeting between both countries.
Addressing Fidan directly, Lavrov emphasized: “Our mutual willingness to achieve results and afterward deepen cooperation was reaffirmed – as demonstrated by Putin welcoming you yesterday.”
Fidan arrived in Russia for a two-day visit at Lavrov’s invitation. The Turkish diplomat met with Putin at the Kremlin yesterday and also held talks with Vladimir Medinsky, the Russian presidential advisor who led Moscow’s delegation during may 6 negotiations in Istanbul.
