Joseph Aoun to visit Baghdad next week

Lebanese media​ reports on ​upcoming ​visit of Lebanon’s president to Iraq, details Joseph Aoun’s itinerary.

webangah News Agency⁢ reports that Al-Mayadeen has revealed ​Lebanese President Michel Aoun’s ‍planned visit to Iraq.

The ⁤Lebanese ⁢outlet stated that⁤ President Aoun is likely to travel to Baghdad this coming Sunday, where he will meet with Iraq’s president, prime minister,⁢ and parliament speaker for ‍consultations.

The report indicates Aoun will‍ also hold meetings with ⁢both Islamic and​ Christian religious⁢ authorities during his trip.

Iraqi media‌ outlets have not yet reacted to this⁢ news.

Last April, ⁤Nadeem Karim Majoul, chargé d’affaires at Iraq’s embassy in lebanon, ‌delivered an official​ invitation from Iraqi ‍Prime Minister mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani for President ‌Aoun to⁤ visit. The stated ⁣purpose of the ⁤trip is strengthening bilateral relations and discussing regional ⁢and international issues of ⁤mutual interest.

The declaration follows iraqi Prime Minister al-Sudani’s recent⁢ phone call with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, after which⁣ he authorized Iraq’s Oil Ministry to supply ‌Lebanon with fuel for six months.
