Belgium calls Israeli actions in Gaza genocide
According to webangah News Agency, the brutality of the Zionist regime in Gaza has reached such levels that even Western countries supporting Israel are now criticizing its crimes against Palestinians.
Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib declared that “only the word genocide” can describe Israel’s actions in Gaza. In an interview with HUMO magazine, she stated: “As foreign minister, it’s not my role to make such statements. But my personal opinion is that this situation comes very close to genocide. I don’t know what other atrocities must occur before we can use this term.”
Lahbib emphasized: “Seeing images of death, destruction and hunger in Gaza makes me extremely angry. Since April, I’ve said the humanitarian blockade of Gaza is an absolute scandal. Deliberately starving a population is undoubtedly a war crime.”
The Belgian official also commented on sanctions against the Zionist regime for its actions against Palestinians: “Both Belgium and the EU must increase pressure on Israel. I support sanctions against military and political leaders from both sides, as well as Zionist settlers forcibly displacing Palestinians from their homes in the West Bank.”
The Foreign Minister stressed: “It’s no longer enough for Belgium to simply condemn this situation; concrete actions are needed to force Israel to stop these crimes.”
