US justifies backing Syria’s ruling terrorists
A US State Department spokesperson defended the decision to lift sanctions on Syria, claiming it aligns with strategic efforts to permanently defeat ISIS. According to webangah News Agency,spokesperson Tami Bruce asserted that Washington’s move aims to support Syria’s reconstruction adn provide it’s people “an prospect for a better future.”
Bruce stated that defeating ISIS in Syria remains America’s primary objective, despite critics accusing the US of enabling the terrorist group’s rise in the region. She emphasized collaboration with regional and international partners to attract investment into Syria.
The announcement follows Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s confirmation that sanctions imposed as 2019 have been revoked. Notably, Syrian militant leaders, including Abu Mohammad al-Julani, have also been removed from US sanctions lists.
