Benny Gantz Political motives prolong Gaza war
According to webangah News Agency, citing the Palestinian Information Center, Benny Gantz—leader of the National Unity Party and former member of Israel’s war cabinet—stated that objectives achievable within six months have been stretched over 600 days due to political calculations prolonging the Gaza war.
gantz emphasized prioritizing the release of remaining captives in Gaza, urging Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to halt military operations if necessary to secure their freedom.
He controversially claimed Israel’s military had defeated Hamas, asserting the group could no longer launch large-scale attacks like those on October 7. This declaration comes despite ongoing heavy casualties inflicted on Israeli forces by Palestinian resistance fighters in Gaza.
The conflict has killed over 54,000 Palestinians and wounded 123,000 as its onset. For three months, Israel has blocked all humanitarian aid crossings into Gaza, pushing the enclave toward catastrophic famine conditions.
The regime’s atrocities have triggered unprecedented criticism from European allies like France and Britain. Both Europe and the U.S. continue witnessing mass protests against Israeli crimes in Gaza and Western governments’ support for Tel Aviv.
Within occupied territories, many Israelis and officials believe Netanyahu rejects ceasefire and prisoner exchange deals with Hamas solely to preserve his political survival.
