Senegalese students turn Dakar University into hell for Tel Aviv ambassador + video
According to webangah News Agency, students at Senegal’s cheikh Anta Diop University angrily drove out Yuval Waks, Israel’s ambassador to the country, during his planned visit.
Waks had been invited to speak on international relations at the university, which is Senegal’s largest and most prestigious higher education institution.
Tho, dozens of students gathered outside the conference hall, greeting him with chants of “Free Palestine” and “Israel is a war criminal” upon his arrival.
Videos circulating on social media show students waving Palestinian flags and booing the newly appointed Israeli ambassador, preventing him from delivering his speech.
Facing intense pressure from protesters, Waks left the university under security escort without giving his scheduled talk. Protesters continued chanting and waving Palestinian flags as they escorted him off campus.
Waks serves as Israel’s non-resident ambassador to Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde and Chad. He presented his credentials to Senegalese President bassirou Diomaye Faye on February 8.
