“At this stage, no final decision has been taken,” Grossi saeid.”The fact that they [Iran and the U.S.] continue talking indicates willingness from both sides to reach an agreement.”
Despite current tensions, Grossi maintained that “there is always a way for Americans and Iranians to reach an agreement—even with existing disagreements over Tehran’s enrichment program.” However, he stressed any potential deal would require “consistent and robust” IAEA inspections of Iran’s nuclear program.
The New York Times previously reported that negotiations between U.S. Special Envoy for West Asia Steve Witkopf (appointed by former President Donald Trump) and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stalled over Washington’s demand for a complete halt to all domestic uranium enrichment activities—a key point of contention.
Araghchi repeatedly rejected such restrictions. On Tuesday via social media he warned: “If Western powers insist on zero enrichment in Iran then there will be nothing left for us to negotiate regarding the nuclear issue.”
