Hamas says West Bank resistance embodies Palestinian spirit of defiance
According to webangah News Agency, citing the Palestinian Information Center, senior Hamas official Mahmoud al-Mardawi commended the steadfastness of West Bank residents amid escalating assaults by Zionist settlers. He emphasized the urgent need for popular resistance to counter these attacks.
al-Mardawi highlighted the heroic defense by villagers in Al-Mughayyir and abu Falah against dozens of settlers who raided the Marj Saej area northwest of Ramallah, stating: “The Palestinian people have again proven their commitment to their land and readiness to defend it against occupation crimes and settler aggression.“
“The surge in these attacks—and our people’s defiance—reflects the essence of authentic resistance within our nation,” he added. “We will not remain silent against suppression and occupation policies.”
The Hamas leader stressed confronting settlers “by all available means” while calling for deterrent measures to halt their escalating crimes across the West Bank. He framed settler and Israeli army violations as part of a “systematic genocide policy” targeting Palestinian existence, land, and holy sites.
al-Mardawi urged mass mobilization in response to grassroots calls supporting Palestinian villages, emphasizing strengthened civilian presence to deter further settler violence.
The statement comes amid intensified crackdowns by extremist settlers and Israeli forces against West Bank Palestinians during the Gaza war, with reports alleging collaboration between some Palestinian factions within the PA administration and Zionist forces in these operations.
