Rubio Announces Start of Process to Revoke Chinese Student Visas
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on social media platform X that the United States plans to initiate the process of revoking visas for Chinese students. This measure will target those affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party or studying in sensitive scientific and technological fields.
Al Jazeera Qatar further reported Rubio’s remarks, noting that the US government intends to revise visa screening and issuance criteria for applicants from China and Hong Kong.
Rubio’s comments on stricter visa policies for Chinese students come two days after Politico reported on May 26 that the Trump administration had suspended student visa interview scheduling to examine applicants’ social media activities.
The US State Department has instructed all embassies and consulates worldwide to halt new student visa interview appointments until further notice. This move aims to prepare infrastructure for implementing new control policies.
Politico added that Rubio issued this directive on Tuesday, May 26.
