Elon Musk steps down from Trump administration
Elon Musk, the controversial CEO of Tesla, has resigned from his position as a special employee in the Trump administration after roughly four months of turbulent collaboration, citing a restructuring of the federal government. The announcement was reported by webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Anadolu Agency.
Musk thanked former President Donald Trump for the opportunity to help reduce wasteful spending but confirmed his departure was swift and lacked formal discussions with the president.
The billionaire expressed confidence that the Government Efficiency Office (DOGE), which he advised, would grow stronger despite his exit. High-level staff reportedly finalized his resignation decision internally.
The move follows Musk’s sharp criticism of a Republican-proposed tax law, which he argued would burden budgets and undermine DOGE’s initiatives. In recent weeks, he also engaged in public and private clashes with cabinet officials-including White House trade advisor Peter Navarro-whom he openly called “an idiot.”
