Lapid Israel must immediately accept US ceasefire proposal for Gaza
Former Israeli Prime Minister and opposition leader Yair Lapid stated that Israel must “publicly and immediately” accept the Gaza ceasefire proposal by U.S. mediator Steve Witkauf, according to webangah News Agency.
Lapid emphasized: “I remind Netanyahu that he must approve Witkauf’s ceasefire proposal despite objections from [National Security Minister] Ben-Gvir and [Finance Minister] Smotrich.”
The remarks come as families of Israeli captives in Gaza asserted: “Netanyahu could have made decisions leading to a comprehensive agreement, but he chose to continue the war for external reasons.” They warned: “There is no real plan for the gaza war – any objective not achieved within eighteen months will never be realized.”
Hamas has confirmed its acceptance of the ceasefire proposal by U.S. Special Middle east Envoy Steve Witkauf and now awaits Israel’s official response.
