Israel blocks Arab foreign ministers led by Saudi Arabia from traveling to Ramallah
According to webangah news Agency, Barak Ravid, a journalist for Axios, stated on his personal X (formerly Twitter) account that Israel has decided to block the visit of foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, and Turkey to the Palestinian Authority. The trip was scheduled for Sunday.
An Israeli official claimed this decision aims to prevent the meeting from taking place in the occupied West Bank. Meanwhile, Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper cited a regime official stating Israel opposes plans to host a meeting of Arab foreign ministers in Ramallah.
The official asserted such a meeting would “focus on advancing an autonomous Palestinian state,” calling it “unacceptable.” He added: “Israel will not participate in actions against its interests or security” and demanded that “the Palestinian Authority cease violating agreements with Israel at all levels.”
The cancellation follows reports from an informed source at Palestine’s embassy in riyadh on Friday confirming Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan’s imminent visit to the West Bank. Had it proceeded, this would have marked the first visit by a Saudi official of this rank since 1967.
The Ramallah trip was intended as part of ministerial committee activities following November’s Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh.Earlier statements framed it as addressing developments in Israel’s war on Gaza and coordinating with Palestinian Authority officials.
