Syrian Kurdish forces commander says ready to meet with Erdoğan
According to webangah News Agency, Mazloum Abdi, commander of the Syrian democratic Forces (SDF), confirmed direct communications between his forces and Turkish officials.
Abdi stated he has no objections to meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The SDF controls parts of northeastern Syria, while Ankara considers the group an extension of Turkey’s outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
Abdi’s remarks follow Turkish President Erdoğan’s recent statement rejecting implementation of an agreement signed between the SDF and Syrian terrorist factions.
On March 10, Abu Mohammed al-Julani and Mazloum Abdi signed an agreement to integrate SDF forces into Syria’s official government institutions – a deal facing meaningful operational challenges.
