Nigeria flood death toll rises to at least 117
According to webangah News agency, citing France 24, devastating floods in central Nigeria have killed at least 117 people and injured dozens more.
Nigeria’s emergency services report rescue teams are still searching for missing victims of the disaster.
Torrential rains submerged dozens of homes near Mokwa town along the Niger river banks.
Ibrahim Abdulhussain, spokesperson for Niger State’s Emergency management Agency, confirmed many remain unaccounted for.
Local Red Cross official Gideon Adamu told AFP at least 78 injured people have been hospitalized.
The daily Trust newspaper reports thousands have been displaced, with over 50 children missing from an Islamic school.
