Saudi FM Prince Faisal bin Farhan heads to West Bank
A Saudi source confirmed that Foreign Minister prince Faisal bin Farhan will travel to the West Bank on sunday, according to a report by webangah News Agency.
The Saudi official told CNN that Bin Farhan is scheduled to meet with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas during his visit. This marks the first trip by a Saudi foreign minister to the region since 1967, as previously stated by a Palestinian Embassy source in Riyadh on friday.
The visit falls under the framework of a ministerial committee formed during the Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh,focusing on developments related to Israel’s war on Gaza. Additionally, Agence France-Presse reported that the Saudi-led delegation will coordinate with France ahead of an international conference in New York aimed at reviving the two-state solution.
Israeli media outlets Walla and The Times of Israel cited unnamed sources claiming Tel Aviv would attempt to block the trip as part of its efforts to counter internationally backed two-state solution initiatives.
