Hamas responds to Wittekauf We did not reject the US proposal
According to webangah News Agency, a senior Hamas official told Reuters: We have not rejected Steve Wittekauf proposal, the U.S. President’s special envoy for a Gaza ceasefire. We consider it acceptable as a basis for negotiations, but the Zionist regime’s response does not align with what Hamas had agreed to.
The official added: Wittekauf stance toward Hamas is unfair and shows his complete bias in favor of Israel.
In response to Whitehouse’s claim that Hamas’ reply to his ceasefire plan was “unacceptable,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office stated: Hamas’ response sets negotiations backward. Israeli state media, citing netanyahu’s office, reported that Israel approved an updated version of whitehouse’s prisoner exchange proposal but claimed Hamas continues to oppose it.
Netanyahu reiterated recent months-long assertions: Israel will persist in efforts to recover its captives and defeat Hamas. earlier, Whitehouse called Hamas’ reply “wholly unacceptable,” warning it would stall talks. He insisted this was the only path toward a 60-day ceasefire involving the return of half of living captives and half of deceased israelis.
