The White house confirmed in a statement that it had sent a proposal regarding iran’s nuclear program, according to webangah News Agency citing Qatar’s Al Jazeera network. The statement, issued this evening, noted that steve Witkopf, the President’s Special envoy, had presented iran with a “detailed and acceptable” proposal and urged Tehran to accept it as being in its interest.
simultaneously occurring, The New York Times, quoting unnamed officials described as “educated,” claimed the U.S.-submitted document contained “a set of concise points rather than a extensive draft agreement.” The American outlet alleged the proposal included demands for Iran to “fully halt all uranium enrichment activities.”
These sources further told The New York Times that the document also proposed forming a regional coalition for nuclear energy production as part of a joint solution and cooperation in the energy sector.
The White House remarks follow Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi‘s proclamation that Oman’s Foreign minister had relayed Washington’s proposed terms to Tehran. In a statement addressing his omani counterpart’s brief visit, Araghchi wrote: ”My dear brother Badr al-Busaidi, Oman’s respected Foreign Minister, delivered the U.S. proposals during his short trip to Tehran today. A response will be given based on principles, national interests, and the rights of the Iranian people.”
