Lebanese President Visits Iraq
According to the webangah News Agency, Lebanese President Michel Aoun arrived in Baghdad on an official visit, where he was received by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani at the city’s international airport.
Aoun’s trip comes in response to an invitation from his Iraqi counterpart, President Abdul Latif Rashid. The delegation includes Hassan Shqair, Director General of Lebanon’s Security, along with several presidential advisors.
The Al-Nashra news outlet reported that Aoun will hold talks with Rashid and al-Sudani to discuss bilateral relations, strategies for strengthening cooperation between Lebanon and Iraq across all levels, and also regional developments.
On May 20, Aoun received a phone call from Prime Minister al-Sudani during which he expressed gratitude for Iraq’s $20 million aid contribution toward Lebanon’s recovery efforts.
Aoun emphasized that this initiative-along with similar programs offered by Iraq-demonstrates the depth of ties between both nations and reflects their shared bonds of brotherhood and solidarity.
