Russian and US Foreign Ministers Hold Phone Talks on Ukraine War
According to webangah News agency, Russia has reacted strongly to Ukraine’s recent attacks on its territory, prompting Washington to intervene in an effort to de-escalate tensions.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that sergey Lavrov, Russia’s Foreign Minister, and Marco rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, held a phone conversation regarding the Ukraine crisis.
During the call, both sides discussed matters related to the upcoming direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine scheduled for tomorrow in Istanbul.
The diplomatic exchange comes amid persistently high tensions between Russia and the West.The high-level dialogue could signal an attempt to reduce hostilities or at least manage the crisis.
Rubio expressed condolences for victims of recent explosions at railway facilities in Russia’s Bryansk and Kursk regions during the call.
The Russian Foreign Ministry pledged that investigation results into these incidents would soon be released, emphasizing: “Those responsible will undoubtedly face appropriate punishment.”
