Sudan’s Interim Government Dissolved
According to webangah News Agency, Sudan’s newly appointed Prime Minister, Kamel Idris, has dissolved the country’s interim government. No timeline has been set for announcing a new cabinet, which will be the first as clashes erupted between the sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Idris took his oath of office on Saturday and was officially sworn in as Sudan’s prime minister. He is the first to hold the position since the 2021 military coup.
The appointment was made by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, commander of Sudan’s army and head of state. While Idris disbanded the transitional administration, RSF forces had previously declared plans to form a parallel government with allied political factions.
In a Sunday address, idris emphasized his commitment to political neutrality and prioritized stability, security, and reconstruction efforts in Sudan.
