According to webangah News Agency, citing Ladiaria, thes groups-including the Communist Party (PCU), Artigista Current (VA), Socialist Party (PS), and Pro-Victory of the People Party (PVP)-unanimously condemned Israel’s advances in Gaza and the West Bank as human rights violations and genocide.
The Central committee of Uruguay’s Communist Party described the situation in Palestine as “deeply tragic” in a statement issued after it’s June 1 meeting, calling on President Yamandú Orsi’s administration to adopt firmer measures against Israel’s attacks on Gaza.
The statement asserted: “Israel is committing genocide through military aggression, having killed over 54,000 Palestinians and endangering 71,000 more with starvation.”
Gustavo González, a Socialist Party senator, told Ladiaria after his party’s internal session: “We hope Israel’s government faces condemnation and isolation.” He emphasized: “We must unite leftist forces against this brutality. Neutrality isn’t an option amid such a severe humanitarian crisis.”
González clarified that while his party doesn’t endorse Hamas’ actions, “the massacre of children and bombings of hospitals and schools are indefensible. We must collectively demand a ceasefire.”
