Speaker of Iran’s Parliament Awards the “Right Side of History” Medal to Venezuelan Officials

Speaker of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, presented the “Right Side of History” medal on Monday, June 2, 2025, to Venezuelan officials on behalf of the Office for the Preservation and Publication of the Works of Ayatollah Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

In a ceremony held at the International University of Communications and Information in Venezuela, the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament presented the “Right Side of History” medal to Ramón Velásquez, Venezuela’s Minister of Transportation and Head of the Iran-Venezuela Joint Economic Commission; Pedro José, Deputy of Venezuela’s National Assembly; and Jorge Arreaza, former Foreign Minister and current Head of the ALBA group.

In his remarks at the event, Ghalibaf stated: “The global hegemonic system, led by the United States, has whitewashed the face of executioners and criminals in history by supporting the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. The Zionists have orchestrated the most brutal man-made famine in history.”

He added: “On May 25, 2024, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution issued a letter in which he praised American students for their awakened consciences and courage in supporting Palestine, addressing them with these words: ‘You are now standing on the right side of history—history that is in the making.’ Accordingly, the Islamic Republic of Iran has dedicated the ‘Right Side of History’ medal to individuals active in the defense of the oppressed people of Palestine.”

Ghalibaf concluded: “I extend my gratitude to the government of Venezuela which chose the right side of history and, years ago in 2009, announced the severance of diplomatic ties with the Zionist regime in protest of the massacre of Gazans. On behalf of the Iranian nation, I hereby present the Right Side of History medal to three Venezuelan activists.”
