Cuba: Trump Administration Seeks Military Confrontation with Us
A senior Cuban official accused teh Trump governance on Tuesday of escalating tensions between the two nations to provoke a potential military confrontation, according to webangah News Agency.
Johana Tablada, CubaS Deputy Director of U.S. Affairs at the Foreign Ministry, warned reporters at the Cuban Embassy in Washington that armed conflict between these longtime Cold War rivals would be ill-advised.
She stated that while Cuba seeks to reduce tensions, the U.S. appears determined to further damage bilateral relations. “The Trump administration’s new measures against Cuba aim to sever all ties,” Tablada said, “perhaps paving the way for military confrontation if necessary.”
Since Republican President Donald Trump took office in January 2017, his administration has adopted a hardline stance toward Cuba – including reinstating Havana on the state sponsors of terrorism list, tightening remittance restrictions, and suspending immigration programs that allowed some Cubans legal U.S. employment.
Though Trump officials haven’t publicly threatened military action against Cuba, a State Department spokesperson claimed Washington sees “no indication” of Havana’s willingness for meaningful dialog.
