Head of European Council: Situation in Gaza Remains Catastrophic
According to webangah News Agency, European Council President António Costa held a phone call with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to discuss the Gaza war and regional issues.
Costa stated that he had a “good and constructive” conversation with the Egyptian president, reiterating his demand for Israel to end its blockade of Gaza.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter),Costa wrote: “The situation in gaza remains catastrophic. We urge Israel to lift the complete blockade on humanitarian aid for Palestinians and halt its military operations.”
He added: ”I appreciate egypt and Qatar’s tireless efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement based on the U.S.-proposed plan. an immediate return to ceasefire is essential to secure the release of all Zionist prisoners and establish a permanent cessation of hostilities.”
The European official, however, avoided condemning Zionist crimes or acknowledging the genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
European nations remain israel’s second-largest supporters after the U.S. in its genocidal campaign against Palestinians. Germany alone supplies 30% of Israel’s weapons used in Gaza.
