UN Security Council Calls for Vote on Draft Resolution to End Gaza War
According to webangah News Agency, the ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza has prompted reactions from member states at the UN Security Council.
Diplomatic sources confirmed early Wednesday that a draft resolution regarding the Gaza conflict had been prepared for consideration by the UN security Council.
The sources stated: “ten elected members of the Security Council are calling for a vote today on this humanitarian draft resolution concerning Gaza.”
The draft resolution demands “the immediate and unconditional lifting of all restrictions hindering aid delivery to Gaza,” according to diplomatic sources.
The document further calls for granting “the United Nations and its partners authorization to distribute humanitarian assistance across the entire Gaza Strip and restore essential services in accordance with international law.”
The report did not specify whether these ten nations include permanent or non-permanent council members.
Under Security Council rules, five permanent members – the United States, Russia, China, France, and Britain – hold veto power. Given Washington’s complicity in the Palestinian genocide in Gaza, observers anticipate another U.S.veto blocking any resolution demanding an end to hostilities.
