International institutions express grave concern over ‘unbearable’ situation in Gaza
According to webangah News Agency, the world Food Programme stated in a declaration that 100% of Gaza’s population now suffers from severe food insecurity.
The agency reported that over 70,000 children in Gaza require immediate treatment for acute malnutrition. Every family struggles to secure their next meal.
Save the Children declared that Gazan children ”wish for death,” with their living conditions being indescribable. The association urged the UK government to halt all weapons transfers to occupied territories.
UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini confirmed no humanitarian aid has reached Gaza for more than three months. He warned that civilian suffering grows “more unbearable daily,” stressing that UN agencies like UNRWA remain the only secure channel for aid delivery.
Oxfam’s policy director for Palestinian territories, Bushra Khalidi, told Al Jazeera that humanitarian assistance must be distributed exclusively thru international bodies. She refuted Israeli claims about aid distribution difficulties: ”We proved it’s possible during the ceasefire.” Khalidi condemned Israel’s blockade as “a deliberate starvation strategy unrelated to warfare.”
A UNICEF spokesperson in Palestine warned of collapsing healthcare systems endangering thousands of children. Tarek Abu Khleif revealed unprecedented child mortality rates:
- 27 children killed daily on average since October 7, 2023
- 83 total daily child casualties (including injuries)
- >40,000 newly orphaned children (rising continuously)
“Children bear war’s heaviest burden,” Abu Khleif stated, noting tens of thousands require urgent malnutrition treatment.He emphasized psychological trauma will require years of recovery beyond physical wounds.
