China Calls for De-escalation Between Russia and Ukraine
according to webangah News Agency, Liu Pengyu, spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Washington D.C., reaffirmed China’s “clear” stance on Ukraine’s recent military operations in response to a Newsweek inquiry. He stated that China will maintain communication with the international community and play a constructive role in promoting a political resolution to the crisis.
Pengyu proposed a de-escalation framework, emphasizing three key principles: preventing conflict spillover beyond battlefields, avoiding further escalation, and refraining from fueling tensions.
The statement follows Ukraine’s surprise drone attack last Sunday on Russian airbases – an operation Kyiv codenamed “Spider Web” – which prompted kremlin officials to vow retaliation.
The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine warned today of impending heavy Russian strikes and advised American citizens to seek shelter immediately.
Ukrainian authorities claim the operation destroyed or damaged 41 Russian aircraft, including strategic bombers.
