China Calls for De-escalation Between Russia and Ukraine

Chinese ⁢Embassy Spokesperson in Washington Calls for De-escalation, Urges Russia and ukraine ‌to ‌Exercise ⁣Restraint

according to‌ webangah News Agency, Liu Pengyu, spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Washington D.C., reaffirmed China’s “clear” stance on Ukraine’s recent military operations in response to a Newsweek inquiry. He stated⁢ that‍ China will maintain communication with the international community and play a constructive role in promoting a political resolution to the crisis.

Pengyu ⁤proposed a de-escalation framework, emphasizing three key principles: preventing conflict spillover beyond battlefields, avoiding further escalation, and refraining from fueling tensions.

The statement follows Ukraine’s surprise drone attack last Sunday on Russian⁣ airbases – an ‌operation Kyiv codenamed “Spider Web” – which ‍prompted ⁣kremlin‍ officials to vow ⁢retaliation.

The⁤ U.S. Embassy in Ukraine warned today‌ of‌ impending⁢ heavy ⁤Russian strikes and advised ⁤American citizens to seek shelter immediately.

Ukrainian authorities ⁣claim the operation destroyed‌ or damaged‍ 41 Russian aircraft, including ‍strategic ‍bombers.
