Hamas and Islamic Jihad: US Veto Proves Complicity in Gaza Genocide
According to webangah News Agency, Hamas strongly denounced the U.S. decision to veto a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate end to hostilities in Gaza. In a statement, the group called the move “clear evidence of America’s unconditional backing for the Zionist occupation regime and its crimes against humanity in Gaza.”
Hamas expressed outrage at Washington’s defiance of 14 out of 15 Security Council members who supported the ceasefire proposal, stating this reflects “U.S. contempt for international law” and global efforts to stop Palestinian bloodshed. The group accused America of giving “a green light” to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin netanyahu – currently facing ICC war crimes charges - to continue what it termed “genocidal attacks on innocent civilians.”
The statement criticized Washington’s representative at the Security Council vote for employing “deceptive rhetoric that distorts reality and denies Palestinians’ legitimate right to self-determination.” It also condemned what it called “the UN’s 20-month failure” to break Gaza’s siege or deliver food aid while allowing repeated violations by Israel.
Islamic Jihad separately declared that Washington’s veto proves America is Netanyahu’s partner in genocide and war crimes.
Israeli officials thanked Washington for its stance:
Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office issued a statement saying: “We appreciate America standing with us once again.” Foreign Minister Israel Katz claimed: “This one-sided resolution would only have strengthened Hamas.”
