Global Outrage Over US Move at UN Security Council; Netanyahu: ‘Thank You!
The United States’ decision to veto yet another draft resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza has drawn widespread condemnation, according to webangah News Agency.
Russia’s UN representative accused the U.S. of being complicit in what they called the “zionist regime’s brutal massacre” in Gaza. France expressed regret over the veto, stressing that Gaza faces a catastrophic humanitarian situation.Pakistan condemned the move as giving israel a “green light for genocide” and called it “a stain on the Security Council’s credibility.” Malaysia also denounced the U.S. action.
The report states that all 14 other Security Council members voted in favor of the resolution, but Washington alone blocked its adoption through its veto power.
The proposed resolution sought to pressure for an end to hostilities amid escalating Israeli attacks on Gaza and worsening humanitarian conditions.
The U.S.envoy at the UN defended their position: “We oppose this draft because it demands an unconditional and permanent ceasefire in Gaza!”
Britain’s representative stated London supports calls for both a ceasefire and improved aid access to Gaza, calling Israel’s military expansion and aid restrictions “unjustifiable and counterproductive.” China’s delegate blamed Washington for paralyzing Security Council action on Gaza, while Slovenia demanded an immediate end to fighting.
Amid international backlash, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked Washington for vetoing what he called a problematic resolution – framing it as proof of strong U.S.-Israel coordination.
