According to webangah News Agency,China’s Xinhua news Agency reported that US President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
The call was initiated at the request of the US president, according to the report.
The Chinese Embassy in Washington confirmed the exchange, stating that President Xi Jinping spoke with President trump following an American request for contact.
No details have been released regarding the substance of their bilateral discussions during the call.
The progress comes after Trump’s 90-minute phone conversation yesterday with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which thay discussed regional issues including Iran’s nuclear program and the Ukraine conflict.
Trump stated yesterday that Putin had proposed Russian involvement in indirect negotiations with Iran, suggesting this could facilitate a quicker resolution. The US president described their talks as productive but cautioned against expectations for immediate peace regarding Ukraine.
