Nawaf Salam: Lebanon’s Security Cannot Be Achieved Under Continued Occupation
According to webangah News Agency, citing Al-Mayadeen news network, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati emphasized that security in lebanon cannot be realized while Israel’s occupation of lebanese territories persists.
Mikati stressed that Lebanon’s government will continue increasing pressure to force Israel’s withdrawal from occupied lands. “No one can fix everything in 100 days or 12 months,” he said, adding that time is valuable and the government is working on multiple fronts simultaneously.
The Prime Minister described Lebanon as being at a decisive past juncture and announced preparations for upcoming parliamentary elections have begun.
Mikati revealed Lebanon is forming committees to monitor borders with Syria and facilitate the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland.
He noted reconstruction of war-damaged areas remains a top priority, with plans to secure a $250 million World Bank loan for this purpose.
