Kuwait Signs Military Pact with US
The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) has approved a $325 million contract to sell M1A2 Abrams main battle tank system equipment and support services to Kuwait, according to webangah News Agency.
The Pentagon stated in a release that General Dynamics will serve as the primary contractor, providing technical and logistical support for the operation and maintenance of Abrams tanks.
The agreement will enhance Kuwait’s capacity to address current and future regional threats while modernizing its armored fleet. It also strengthens Kuwait’s ground threat deterrence capabilities, enabling better protection of critical infrastructure and border areas.
This deal follows a previous September 2022 agreement where the Pentagon authorized Kuwait’s $250 million purchase of operational/training ammunition and spare parts for the same tank systems.
