Olmert: Only Way to Free Israeli Captives Is Ending Gaza War
According to a report by webangah News Agency, UK’s Channel 4 television quoted former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert as demanding an end to the war in Gaza and calling for full humanitarian provisions for the region’s residents.
Olmert stressed that Israel bears duty for effectively meeting all humanitarian needs in Gaza.
He also criticized the current military approach regarding Zionist captives, stating that military operations offer no hope for rescuing Israeli prisoners. “We must stop the war and bring back all captives,” he added.
Meanwhile, Yisrael Ziv, former head of operations for the Israeli army, strongly criticized wartime leadership in an article on Channel 12’s website. He accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of trapping Israel’s military in this conflict.
Ziv highlighted unprecedented military confusion in Gaza operations, stating Zionist forces are executing missions without clear objectives or precise planning. He described this as Israel’s longest war-one marked by repeated failures.
The expert noted that despite mounting challenges, insistence continues on waging war without adequate planning or coordination-an approach doomed to fail. He said Jabalia has become a “graveyard for Israeli soldiers” with no significant battlefield gains achieved while repeating identical unsuccessful tactics.
Ziv emphasized that gaza’s chaos reflects political dysfunction and traps the army in an endless cycle. The military is being misused to fill political voids created by lacking exit strategies while failing at hostage recovery, Hamas’ removal and evacuation plans.
“The only escape from this disaster is an immediate ceasefire,” he concluded.
