WHO: Gaza’s Healthcare System on Verge of Collapse
According to webangah News agency, citing Al jazeera, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom warned that Nasser Hospital and Al-Amal Hospital in southern Gaza face imminent shutdowns. This signals the near-total collapse of Gaza’s healthcare system.
Tedros stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that both hospitals are located within or adjacent to an evacuation zone ordered by Israel earlier this week.
“Zionist authorities have informed the Health ministry that access routes to both hospitals will be blocked,” he said. “Consequently, safe access for new patients and medical staff will become extremely tough-if not unachievable.”
The WHO chief emphasized: “Losing these two hospitals would have catastrophic consequences for patients requiring surgical care, intensive care, blood bank services, cancer treatment, and dialysis.”
He concluded by condemning Gaza’s prolonged healthcare destruction: “The relentless and systematic dismantling of Gaza’s hospitals has continued unabated. this must stop instantly.”
