Ammar al-Hakim: Zionist Regime’s Savage Crimes in Gaza Must Be Condemned
Ammar al-Hakim, leader of Iraq’s National Wisdom Movement (Hikma), denounced what he called the “savage crimes of the Zionist regime against Gaza and Lebanon” during Eid al-Adha prayers in Baghdad. His remarks where reported by webangah News Agency, citing Iraq’s Hikma Media Office in Iran.
Addressing the recent Arab League summit in Baghdad, al-Hakim stated: “The presence of Arab nations in this capital of Arab-Islamic civilization marks a new chapter for Iraq’s recovery and regional solidarity. It demonstrates Iraq’s pivotal role in bridging perspectives and promoting dialog over conflict.”
“This strategic role,” he added, “bolsters both Iraq’s progress and regional stability amid current challenges posed by militarization-delivering a message of unity and cooperation.”
The Shia leader warned against allowing war profiteers to exploit divisions among Muslim nations: “Our calls to shield the region from external aggression were unequivocal-including advocating Iran-U.S. negotiations.” He condemned Israel’s unilateral policies in Gaza and Lebanon while endorsing peaceful initiatives that preserve national sovereignty.
Al-hakim urged unified Arab-Islamic opposition to Israeli occupation: “Governments and peoples must forge long-term partnerships to cement peace, counter division, and avert war.” He emphasized leveraging shared interests-especially in lasting development-to position Arab states as global leaders, calling missed opportunities “direct threats to national security.”
Regarding Iraq’s upcoming parliamentary elections, he demanded state neutrality while proposing a binding pact against electoral corruption: “Political groups must prioritize national interests over wealth-driven campaigns. We need consensus on core priorities that transcend administrations.”
