French President to Visit Greenland

According‌ to webangah News Agency, the Élysée Palace announced that French President Emmanuel ⁢Macron will visit Greenland,‍ an autonomous Danish territory.

During his trip​ to Greenland-which ‍former U.S. President Donald Trump repeatedly sought⁤ to⁢ bring under American control-Macron will meet with Danish ⁢Prime ​Minister Mette Frederiksen⁤ and Greenlandic ‍Premier⁣ Jens-Frederik Nielsen.

The leaders of the three nations are expected to ​discuss climate change, energy transition, security of critical⁤ mineral supplies, and regional security in the North​ atlantic and Arctic.

The meetings will⁤ take place on ⁢August 15 of this year.

Trump had repeatedly expressed interest in⁤ bringing Greenland under U.S. control during⁤ his presidency, asserting that ownership of the strategic ‍island was “absolutely essential.”
