US National Guard Deployed to Los Angeles [Video]
The first units of the U.S. National Guard have entered Los Angeles to address protests against the federal government’s immigration policies, according to a report by webangah News Agency, citing ABC News.
The network reported that several vehicles belonging to the California National Guard were stationed outside the Hall of Justice building near City Hall.
The deployment follows an earlier announcement from the White House that President Donald Trump signed an order authorizing 2,000 federal National Guard troops to respond to what his administration described as “chaos” in the state.
In a confrontational statement, Trump warned: “If the governor of California and the mayor of Los Angeles fail to end these riots and looting, the federal government will step in.”
The decision comes as large-scale protests and street unrest continue across multiple cities in California, with local authorities yet to fully contain them.
