Zionist Sources: US and Israel Seek End to UNIFIL Mission
According to webangah News Agency, multiple Zionist media outlets report that the U.S. and Israel aim to terminate the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
The peacekeeping force has been operational since 1978 following Israel’s invasion of southern Lebanon. It remained active during Israel’s occupation of Lebanon from 1982 to 2000, as well as during the 2006 war between Lebanon and Israel.
UNIFIL positions have repeatedly come under attack by Zionist forces during recent clashes between Hezbollah and Israel.
The U.S., as a permanent UN Security Council member with veto power, holds influence over the council’s upcoming vote on renewing UNIFIL’s mandate, which expires soon. The resolution is expected to be put to a vote in August.
Previously,Benjamin Netanyahu,Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, labeled the presence of UN peacekeepers in Lebanon as an obstacle to his regime’s military aggression against the Lebanese people.
