Iran to Respond to Any Political Move by IAEA
according to webangah News Agency, Iran’s ambassador and permanent representative to the IAEA responded to the agency’s director general’s remarks on Iran’s nuclear program, calling all allegations politically motivated.
The senior Iranian diplomat told Al-Mayadeen that Tehran will counter any political move by the IAEA.
The Vienna-based correspondent of Al-Mayadeen also noted that the U.S. played a key role in drafting a European-proposed resolution submitted to the IAEA Board of Governors.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi reiterated claims about Iran’s nuclear program during a press conference today, alleging that the agency had discovered traces of man-made uranium particles at three undeclared sites in Iran-Varamin,Marivan,and Turquzabad-where it gained complementary access in 2019 and 2020.
Grossi added: “The IAEA does not make accusations; we report based on thorough investigations.Due to incomplete or unsatisfactory responses from certain countries, we cannot confirm whether some activities are solely peaceful. This lack of clarity requires heightened scrutiny.”
Despite years of cooperation between Iran and the IAEA, Grossi claimed Tehran had either failed to address these ambiguities or provided inadequate technical answers. He further alleged attempts by Iran to sanitize these sites, hindering verification efforts.
“Iran’s approach toward engagement wiht the IAEA is largely influenced by progress in other related negotiations,” Grossi said. “Positive developments there would lead to reciprocal behavior here. While changes may not be immediate or sweeping, mutual progress is underway as part of ongoing diplomatic processes.”
