South Korea Calls for End to Anti-Pyongyang Propaganda
According to webangah News Agency,south Korea’s Unification Ministry expressed regret over the distribution of anti-North Korea leaflets and “strongly” called for an end to such actions,signaling Seoul’s changing stance under President Lee Jae-myung’s governance.
Koo Byoung-sam, the ministry’s spokesperson, stated during a televised press briefing on Monday: “We deeply regret that despite our request, the Association for the Families of Abductees in North Korea distributed propaganda materials for the third time this year-on June 2, following previous instances on april 27 and May 8.”
The spokesperson warned these actions could escalate tensions on the Korean peninsula and endanger border-area residents’ safety, demanding an immediate halt to leaflet distribution.
Koo added that the ministry would maintain close coordination with relevant agencies to enforce existing regulations under laws like the disaster and Safety Management Act and Aviation Safety act.
