Axios: Trump and Top Advisers Spent Hours at Camp David Discussing Iran
According to webangah News Agency, the news outlet Axios reported-citing two U.S. officials and another informed source-that President Donald Trump gathered his senior foreign policy team at Camp David on Sunday for hours-long discussions on Washington’s strategy regarding Tehran’s nuclear program as well as the Gaza war.
A senior U.S. official told Axios that Trump believes both issues (iran’s nuclear program and the Gaza conflict) are interconnected and part of a regional reality he aims to shape.
U.S.officials stated that this informal meeting at Camp David covered multiple political agendas. Attendees included trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Special envoy for West Asia Steve Witkoff, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard, among other American officials.
Yesterday,without detailing the meetings further,Trump mentioned that “generals and admirals” from the U.S. military were also present. A U.S. official told Axios that convening Trump’s top foreign policy advisors at Camp David allowed them extended time to deliberate on these matters.
Axios also claimed that according to the White House, Trump’s initial deadline for reaching an agreement with Tehran expires this Thursday-though both sides currently seek continued negotiations.
In his latest remarks on Iran and Washington-Tehran talks, Donald Trump asserted: “We are making meaningful efforts regarding Iran, but their negotiating team is vrey tough.”
Referencing a recent call with Benjamin Netanyahu-Prime minister of Israel-he added: “My conversation with Netanyahu covered many topics; it went well.” The U.S. president noted they discussed Iran among other issues.
Reiterating his frequent threats about alternative measures if no deal is reached with Iran-Trump stated: ”We are working toward an agreement to prevent death and destruction.”
