Los Angeles Protests Spread to Texas + Video
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, widespread demonstrations against former U.S.President Donald Trump’s immigration policies-which originated in Los Angeles,California-have now spread to Dallas and Austin,Texas.
Dozens of protesters in Dallas carried banners and waved flags to voice their opposition to what they called Trump’s “repressive immigration measures.”
the gatherings in Dallas occasionally turned violent,prompting police to declare them “unlawful assemblies” before deploying tear gas to disperse the crowds.
Dallas police have not released details on potential arrests during last night’s protests. The department has issued warnings about fines and detentions for unauthorized demonstrations targeting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).Meanwhile, additional protests erupted in Austin.
The Texas demonstrations follow Friday’s unrest in Los angeles where anti-riot police clashed with protesters, resulting in at least 40 arrests. During the large-scale protests against Trump’s immigration policies there,a major highway was blocked and vehicles where set ablaze. Riot police used tear gas, rubber bullets, and flashbangs to disperse crowds.
Trump recently federalized state National guard troops without California Governor Gavin Newsom’s authorization-marking the first such move in 60 years-and deployed them to Los Angeles alongside 700 U.S. Marines.
Governor Newsom stated that Trump plans to send an additional 2,000 National Guard personnel to los Angeles.
