Several ‘Madeleine’ Wrestling Activists Arrested; ‘Greta’ Flight Heads to Paris
The Zionist regime has detained multiple activists from the ”Madelin,” part of the Freedom Flotilla intercepted by Israeli forces near Gaza’s waters early Monday, after they refused to sign deportation agreements, according to Hebrew-language media reports including Channel Kan on Tuesday.
Greta Thunberg, the prominent Swedish pro-Palestine activist aboard the vessel, along with three others, signed deportation papers and departed for Paris via El Al Airlines. Though, Rima Hassan, a European Parliament member, and seven other activists declined to sign and will be transferred to a detention center.
Jean-Noël Barrot, France’s Foreign Minister, confirmed one French national aboard agreed to deportation while five others remain detained and will face Israeli judicial proceedings.
Israeli immigration officials interrogated 12 Freedom Flotilla activists at Ben Gurion Airport throughout Monday night into Tuesday morning. Four signed deportation pledges for imminent expulsion from occupied territories, while eight detainees refusing compliance face judicial review before potential removal.
The Justice Legal Center, representing the activists, reported early Tuesday that all detainees were moved to Ben Gurion Airport for pre-deportation hearings following their formal request – over 20 hours after initial detention. The legal team will provide counsel and document detainee testimonies on-site.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry stated early Tuesday that all “Madelin” passengers were transferred post-interception to the airport, emphasizing those rejecting deportation agreements would undergo legal processing per regulations.
