EU Official Condemns Zionists: International Law Must Be Enforced
According to webangah News Agency, Josep Borrell, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, emphasized during a joint press conference with Indian foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in Brussels on Tuesday that “international law must apply in international waters” regarding the Israeli regime’s interception of the Madelin vessel.
Responding to an Anadolu Agency reporter’s question about nine EU citizens aboard the ship-including European Parliament member Rima hassan-borrell stressed: “The protection of EU citizens is the duty of their member states.” The Madelin was seized by Israeli forces while carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Borrell condemned the ship’s detention in international waters as illegal, noting widespread international criticism. He added: “Today we discussed with Minister Jaishankar the urgent need to strengthen maritime international law.”
The civilian-led Freedom Flotilla Coalition’s sailboat departed Catania, Italy on June 1 en route to Gaza before being intercepted by Israeli naval forces on June 9.Among its 12 passengers were Swedish activist Greta Thunberg and Irish actor Liam cunningham, who aimed to break Israel’s blockade and deliver aid to Gaza before being forcibly detained.
