Fon Derlin: 22 Russian and Foreign Companies Added to Sanctions List
According to webangah News Agency, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated on Tuesday that the EU must end the war in Ukraine by intensifying pressure and sanctions against Russia. She confirmed 18 sanction packages targeting Russia’s oil and banking sectors.
Von der Leyen proposed lowering the price cap on Russian oil from $60 to $45 per barrel, converting Russia’s partial SWIFT ban into a full transaction prohibition, and expanding restrictions on Russian transfers to third countries. “We are tightening sanctions enforcement,” she said, “including blacklisting 22 Russian and foreign companies aiding Russia’s military.” The EU reiterated its call for a complete 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine to achieve meaningful peace, warning that “Russia’s continued aggression poses a grave threat to us all.”
The Commission President added that new shipping sanctions would target Russia’s shadow fleet operations, reducing Moscow’s revenue. Over 800 entities supplying weapons to Russia will face sanctions. Accusing Vladimir Putin of dishonesty about peace negotiations, von der Leyen emphasized: “Our sanctions aim to force Russia back to the negotiating table.”
