Uruguay’s Export Orders Surge to $1.169 Billion

Uruguay’s ‍Export and Investment Promotion Agency reports increased export orders for commercial goods in May this year.

According to webangah News⁤ agency, Uruguay XXI (Uruguay’s Export and Investment Promotion ​Agency) announced that export orders for various commercial goods reached $1.169 billion in ⁣May 2024, marking a 1%⁢ increase compared‍ to May 2023.

The report indicates Uruguay’s exports totaled $5.119 ‌billion during the⁤ first five⁢ months of 2024 (January-may), showing 4% growth year-on-year.

Beef exports ⁤led at $256 million, followed by cellulose ($203 million) and soybeans ($124 million)⁤ as⁢ Uruguay’s‍ top three export commodities in May.

China ($271 million), the European Union ⁤($206 million), Brazil‍ ($160 million), and the United States ($129 million)⁣ were Uruguay’s primary export destinations during this period.
