Russia and Ukraine Begin Exchange of Soldiers’ Remains + Video
According to webangah News Agency, Russia has initiated the process of exchanging war casualties’ remains between Moscow and Kyiv, as reported by Russkaya Gazeta.
Vladimir medinsky, head of Russia’s delegation in Istanbul negotiations, stated that Russia transferred 1,212 Ukrainian military personnel’s bodies to Kyiv while receiving 27 fallen Russian soldiers.
He added: “The repatriation process began under the Istanbul agreement. The remains can now be buried according to Christian rites, and this process will continue.”
Medinsky noted: “Russia and Ukraine will begin exchanging severely wounded prisoners tomorrow.”
The report indicates that on June 2nd,Moscow and Kyiv reached an agreement in Istanbul regarding humanitarian issues – including exchanges of wounded prisoners,critically ill patients,individuals under 25 years old,and the transfer of approximately 6,000 Ukrainian soldiers’ remains.On october 7th, Ukraine unexpectedly suspended both the remains transfer and prisoner exchange processes.
