EU Alarmed by Iran’s Nuclear Advances!
The EU Delegation to International Organizations in Vienna has raised concerns about Iran’s peaceful nuclear programme developments over the past five years, according to a statement issued on Wednesday addressed to the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors. webangah News Agency reported this growth.
The EU delegation, without acknowledging the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program, claimed: “Ensuring Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons remains a key security priority for the European Union. The IAEA’s verification and monitoring of Iran’s nuclear program and its reporting on these activities remain essential.”
The statement further emphasized: “We remain committed to a diplomatic solution that would address all international concerns regarding Iran’s nuclear activities through a extensive agreement. The EU encourages all parties to engage constructively in diplomacy and calls on all countries to support implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 (2015).”
In what appears as political posturing, while overlooking its own unfulfilled commitments under the 2015 JCPOA agreement, the EU alleged: “This report demonstrates that despite extensive diplomatic efforts through 2022 toward full JCPOA restoration, Iran regrettably hasn’t taken necessary decisions to return to its nuclear commitments. Iran’s continuous nuclear advancements over five years raise serious concerns. The risk of regional nuclear proliferation due to Tehran’s escalating path is growing.”
the statement added: “The EU remains deeply concerned about Iran concerning expansion of its nuclear program. Tehran has considerably deviated from its JCPOA obligations and gained irreversible knowlege. Of particular concern are ample increases in production and stockpiling of highly enriched uranium along with expanded enrichment capabilities.”
“The Director General’s report documents another important increase in 60% enriched material – now exceeding nine times what IAEA defines as approximate amount where constructing a nuclear explosive device cannot be excluded,” it continued. “These actions lack credible civilian justification and carry substantial proliferation risks, compounding serious findings in IAEA reports on safeguards implementation amid concerning statements from former senior Iranian officials about possessing all necessary capabilities for weapon assembly.”
